Yesterday's Owen Sound
Sun Times had a special section with photographs of area men and women who served our country that were submitted by their family. Eight bear the name Iles. All are my relatives. My grandfather and his two brothers, Harold and Emmanuel are shown.
Harold Edward Iles never returned. He was killed August 8, 1918.
My father, Harold "Bob", and four of his brothers served: Wilfred, Emmanuel Kenneth "Manny," Clifford and William "Bill". Here is a photograph of the boys in uniform with their parents.

Janet, thank you so much for the hard work and dedication over the last four years in putting together your memorial book for the soldiers of Knox who gave the supreme sacrifice during the first World War. ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words. It was a labour of love to do the research. I felt it was so important that each one was remembered in print and with photos when available. With the upcoming amalgamation, it was also important to include some church history.
