This is my twenty-second posting for the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks challenge.
When my great-grandmother, Emily Pugh married George Iles, she gave her father's name as Charles Pugh (deceased). When Emily was baptized in the Workhouse, no father is given. Emily's mother was Hannah Pugh nee Cowley.
Hannah Cowley married a Charles Pugh 13 May 1850 in King's Sutton, Northamptonshire Parish Church. Charles is listed as full age and a resident of King's Sutton and a labourer. His father is Alexander Pugh, labourer.
Mary Ann Pugh was born to Charles Pugh and Hannah Cowley 4 September 1850. Emily wasn't born until July 1860. Did they both have the same father? Hannah, Mary Ann and Emily are in the workhouse in the 1861 census.
What happened to Charles?
