Tombstone Tuesday - John Mucklow

In recent postings, I have talked about John Mucklow, my great-great grandfather. (check for Mucklow in my surname list).

John was a gamekeeper. Here is a photo of his tombstone.

Born Aug. 21 1821
Died Nov. 6 1904

The tombstone quite likely was paid for by his employer Sir. W. Throckmorton of Coughton Court.
I believe he is buried in Aston Cantlow. I have to check on that.

  3. Hi Janet,

John Mucklow was my great-great-great grandfather. I'm decended from his youngest daughter Ruth (b. c1864) who gave birth to my great-grandmother Lucy in 1881 when she was just 17.

I visited Aston Cantlow a couple of years ago in search of evidence of my family history - including a wander around the church graveyard - but was unable to find anything. Fascinating to see the picture of his tombstone and to learn he was a valued employee/servant!
