I need help determining John A. Thompson's military service

The above is an excerpt from the attestation paper for John A. Thompson. He is one of the men in my research project. I am having difficulty determining all of his military service. What did he do for two years? I first thought it was KCK but that doesn't make sense and I have not found anything that would match. It is likely R for Royal and C and then ?. What is this an acronym for?

The book is almost ready to go to print and it would be wonderful to have the needed information.

Wordless Wednesday (Almost) - Rural Gardens of Grey and Bruce Counties pt. 4

I promised I would post more garden photos today. After lunch at the Great Books & Cafe at the old Williamsford Mill, we headed to My Heart is in it. We made a few wrong turns so we had to get instructions but it was worth the drive out into the country to see these beautiful gardens. There is lots to see here.  Here are some examples from our visit. Edith was our guide throughout the extensive gardens.



Our last stop was Grange Hollow Gardens and Nursery. It was get near closing so we only had a short time to lok areound.
