Carnival of Genealogy - Scrapbooking my parents' wedding photos
This month's theme is Scrapbooking your Family History.
I haven't done much scrapbooking. My first was a project several years ago for my sister-in-law's birthday.
Above are two pages. I have chosen to show photos and newspaper clippings about my parents' marriage in 1946. They were married at the church manse on a Wednesday afternoon. It was a small wedding. The newspaper clipping tells about the details of my mom's wedding dress and that of her attendant.
The first page was begun in a workshop and I finished it for the COG and the second page is a new creation. I could see doing several more pages to tell the story of how they met, when they got engaged, etc.

Saturday Night Fun - I write like
Today's challenge posed by Randy Seaver is to have our writing analyzed over at I write like.
Canadian Carnival of Genealogy - Sadly, William Boyd made the news
The result was I write like James Joyce.
Teaching night school genealogy class three
The result was I write like David Foster Wallace.
In Remembrance - Harold Edward Iles
The result was I write like H. P. Lovecraft
The other day I tried a couple of articles and it said I write like Stephen King.
It looks like my writing style varies greatly.

Happy Blogiversary "Janet the Researcher"
Well, I made it to the 3rd anniversary of this blog. Sometimes when you embark on a new project, you wonder if you will be able to finish it or to keep it going. I am pleased that I have reached another milestone.
What had started as a part of the 23 things learning project with the library, has become for me a great source of satisfaction. The blog's primary focus is genealogy but I venture into some local history, family history, photos of people and places and of course, gardens.
I don't write something everyday as other obligations need my attention, but I do enjoy writing my stories.
Thank you to all my readers. Thank you to all who take the time to leave comments.

Happy Canada Day!
Happy Birthday, Canada! Bonne FĂȘte, Canada.
Two years ago. I described a special Canada Day for me in 1983 when my parents and I were in Quebec City. I think that was one of the most memorable Canada Days for me, except perhaps for 1978 when my nephew Matthew was born. When he was little, we had some of his birthday parties at our cottage.
Today, to celebrate Canada Day, I attended the opening of the schoolhouse at Grey Roots (our museum). It was a beautiful day for the opening and a large crowd gathered. The building is a replica of SS #1 Derby. Some in attendance had either attended or taught in one room schools. I wasn't one of them, although I did teach school for two years. This building is a great addition to the Moreston Heritage Village.
Here are some photos that I took. I will return sometime on a tour to have a better look at the interior of the school house.
