Yes, this is very typical of winters of this area. Sometimes the winters are very long and start in November with the snow staying until March or early April.
Some years, we have major storms.

Terry, it can be pretty when the sun is shining on the snow and the sky is blue with little wind. It is not so much fun when the winds are high and the skies are dark and you can't see where you are going.
