2009 swimsuit edition of the Carnival of Genealogy
Here I am enjoying a summer day during August 1955, wearing my swimsuit. The photo was taken at Sauble Beach. I likely didn't venture far into the water except to fill my watering can.

Wedding Belles - Smile for the Camera
The following are photographs of the wedding of my great aunt Lillian Ruth Iles when she married Victor Brooks in Owen Sound, Ontario on 25 August 1926. It was an outdoor wedding most likely at the home of her father George Iles and step-mother.

They are all, except for the little girls wearing their Salvation Army uniforms.
Right to left - William James, best man - Victor Brooks, groom; Lily Iles, bride and May Iles, maid of honour. In front are two flower girls, names not known.
Of all my paternal great aunts and uncles, it was this couple that I was closest too so I am pleased the family photograph album includes their wedding photographs. We visited them in Toronto and at their cottage at Sauble Beach.

Good Earth Family Ties to the Land - 73rd Carnival of Genealogy
Although both my maternal and paternal sides of the family had ties to the earth, today's posting focuses on my great grandfather, George Iles. Although there is no mention of him working the land while he lived in England, his death registration lists him as a gardener.
After he came to Canada, the family moved several times, sometimes living in the town of Owen Sound and sometimes living in the country in either Sydenham or Derby Townships.
Son Albert is plowing the fields.
I believe this is a photograph of George and Albert Iles in March 1930. It looks like they are heading out to the fields. If anyone can help me with details in the photograph, I'd appreciate it.
